71mayo - agosto 2025 Frontera Biotecnol%u00f3gica | N%u00b0 31ISSN: 2448-8461Los ascomicetos copr%u00f3filos son un grupo de hongos sapr%u00f3trofos que juegan un rol importante en la descomposici%u00f3n y reciclamiento de los nutrientes contenidos en las deposiciones de los animales. En el metabolismo de estos organismos se producen mol%u00e9culas tanto en los ascocarpos como en el medio, siendo los m%u00e1s interesantes, los derivados de terpenoides, alcaloides y compuestos fen%u00f3licos, que por su potencial aplicaci%u00f3n en el %u00e1mbito farmacol%u00f3gico, en el tratamiento de enfermedades como infecciones por virus, bacterias y hongos, siendo incluso promisorios en el tratamiento del VIH; as%u00ed como cosm%u00e9tico, por los pigmentos contenidos en la estructura del hongo, principalmente melaninas, carotenoides y azafilonas. Por ello es necesario estudiarlos por que se pueden obtener los medicamentos del futuro. El objetivo del presente trabajo es dar a conocer los ascomicetos copr%u00f3filos y su importancia en la b%u00fasqueda de nuevas mol%u00e9culas para el combate de enfermedades actuales.Palabras clave: metabolitos especiales, pigmentos, antimicrobianos, cultivo de hongos, excretas.Coprophilic ascomycetes are a group of saprotrophic fungi that play an important role in the decomposition and recycling of nutrients contained in animal feces. In the metabolism of these organisms, molecules are produced both in the ascocarps and in the environment, the most interesting being those derived from terpenoids, alkaloids and phenolic compounds, which due to their potential application in the pharmacological fields, in the treatment of diseases such as infections by viruses, bacteria and fungi, becoming promising even in the treatment of HIV, cosmetic, due to the pigments contained in the structure of the fungus, mainly melanins, carotenoids and azaphylones. It is necessary to study them, with them the drugs of the future can be obtained, so the objective of this work is to raise awareness of coprophilic ascomycetes and their importance in the search for new molecules to combat current diseases.Keywords: antimicrobials, fungal culture, feces, pigments, special metabolites.RESUMENABSTRACTISSN: 2448-8461
