En la naturaleza se encuentra en rocas y salmueras y su extracci%u00f3n mediante m%u00e9todos convencionales implica procesos que generan un impacto considerable en el ambiente. La biominer%u00eda, en particular la biolixiviaci%u00f3n, representa una alternativa sostenible para su recuperaci%u00f3n, utilizando microorganismos como bacterias, hongos y levaduras. M%u00e9xico cuenta con reservas considerables de litio en varios estados, lo que representa una oportunidad estrat%u00e9gica para su desarrollo industrial y econ%u00f3mico. Sin embargo, su explotaci%u00f3n enfrenta desaf%u00edos tecnol%u00f3gicos y ambientales. El uso de microorganismos halotolerantes en la biolixiviaci%u00f3n representa un enfoque innovador y sostenible para mejorar la recuperaci%u00f3n de litio con un menor impacto ambiental.Palabras clave: Litio, Biolixiviaci%u00f3n, Biominer%u00eda, Halotolerantes, M%u00e9xico. Lithium, an element with multiple industrial applications, is particularly important in the production of rechargeable batteries, ceramics, and glass. In its nature state, it is found in rocks and brines. Conventional extraction processes have a considerable impact on the environment. Biomining, particularly bioleaching, is a sustainable alternative for its recovery, making use of microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi, and yeasts. Mexico boasts considerable lithium reserves, dispersed across multiple states, which present a strategic opportunity for its industrial and economic advancement. However, the sustainable exploitation of this natural resource is confronted with significant technological and environmental challenges.
